A lot has happened for me in the last year and a half. I got engaged right before Covid officially started in March 2020. I officially became a step-mom to a now seven year old, November 7, 2020 when I married his father Bill Ardito and my name is now Jessica Ardito. I love it. We’ve survived Zooming from home for all three of us. Both teaching yoga from my bedroom, my husband working from the living room and back yard, and our then six year old homeschooling with us half time. It was wild. We’ve since moved, share custody differently, and reside in Fort Collins Colorado. A whole lot of change. Now we have a baby on the way. We are very excited to be having a baby boy in January 2022.
I wasn’t scared of being a mom, but when I found out that it’s a boy, I cried. I believe I felt ill equipped to raise a young man, even though I have a stepson, and more likely to feel more comfortable raising a girl. I grew up around girls. Boys scare me a little more, I think because it’s more unknown to me.
We are still searching for the right name. I hope it just “comes” to me, because I really want to do a good job picking a name. I have a step father and a father, but to be honest, neither of them did a great job raising me, and I don’t feel that I would ever name a kid after them. It makes me sad, probably where some of my tears came from.
I think the good part about me getting to raise a young man, is getting to be an influence in their life. An opportunity to raise a man who knows how to love and be loved. To learn from the things I’ve and my husband have had to endure, and to teach them with love, how to be a good person.
Since becoming pregnant, I have halted my teaching, mostly to give more time to myself as my body changes and I survived being sick for four months almost non-stop. I’m currently looking to do a yoga teacher pre and post natal training and have started taking pre natal classes myself. I’m not working at the moment, but plan to be very part-time in the near future.
If you’re happy for my little family and would like to contribute to our baby registry, we’d love that, and you can find it in the link below. If you’d like to send something not in the link, you’re welcome to email me at jessicawatersyoga@gmail.com and I will send you my address.
This has been a tough year and a half and doesn’t seem to be slowing down much. I hope that you all are holding up well and finding reasons to celebrate life and each other. Im wishing you all tons of love and happiness.
Regards,
Jessica Ardito
